How do I log a meal by voice?

What are the steps?

Three, and the whole thing takes under thirty seconds for a normal meal.

1. Hold to talk. Press and hold the ring at the bottom of the diary and speak: "chicken burrito bowl with extra rice and guacamole".
2. Review the transcript. Macropass shows what it heard. Tap to fix a word before anything is estimated.
3. Check the draft and confirm. The draft lists each ingredient, the assumptions ("Guacamole counted as 2 tbsp"), the six values and a calorie band. Say or type a correction if needed, then confirm.

What should I say for a good estimate?

Foods, quantities, and how it was cooked. "Two eggs scrambled in butter, one slice of sourdough" gives a tighter calorie band than "eggs and toast". Brands and restaurant names work. If you do not know a quantity, say nothing and read the assumption Macropass lists; correct it in one sentence if it is off.

Does voice logging work in a noisy restaurant?

Usually, because the transcript is reviewed before estimating: a misheard word is a tap to fix, not a wrong meal. Hold the phone close, speak in short phrases, and check the transcript. In very loud places, type the sentence instead; the draft is identical either way.

What are the limits?

Voice clips are short, around forty seconds, which is enough for any meal. A voice log uses one AI estimate: up to 12 AI estimates per day and 120 per month (50 during the trial). Saved-meal reuse and manual logging always remain available. Voice logging needs a connection, because transcription and estimation run on Macropass servers. A connected assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT cannot use Macropass voice logging; photo and voice logging stay inside the Macropass app.

What happens to the recording?

The clip is uploaded to Macropass servers, transcribed, and kept with the meal so you can see what you said. It is exported with your data and deleted with your account. No ads.
