What it is

Entity and category questions, including the name collision with an older app.

What is Macropass?

Macropass is an AI macro tracker made by Geometry, at macropass.app. You log a meal by typing, talking, or snapping a photo, or you log meals from Claude or ChatGPT into a real diary. It tracks calories, protein, carbs, fat, fiber, and sugar. There is no food database and no barcode scanner.

Is Macropass the same as the older app called Macropass?

No. Macropass at macropass.app is unrelated to any earlier app that used the same name. Older reviews and listicle mentions of a minimalist tracker with this name describe a different product.

Who makes Macropass?

Geometry, the app studio of Geometry Lab L.L.C-FZ, Dubai. The studio hub is geometryapps.com and support is support@macropass.app.

Who is Macropass for?

If you weigh your food and verify against labels, use MacroFactor or Cronometer. If you quit trackers because logging is a chore, or you already ask your AI what is in your food, Macropass is built for you.

Is Macropass legit?

Macropass is a paid app from a registered company, sold only through the App Store and Google Play, with no ads and one-tap export of your data. There is no free tier and no data resale. Read the privacy policy at macropass.app/privacy.

Logging

How a meal gets into the diary.

How do I log a meal in Macropass?

Type a description, hold to talk, or snap a photo. There is no food database, no barcode scanner, and no macro-by-macro form. Macropass returns a draft with items, assumptions and a calorie band; you confirm and the diary updates.

Can I log by voice?

Yes. Hold the ring, say what you ate, review the transcript, and Macropass estimates from it. The transcript is shown before anything is estimated.

Can I log from a photo?

Yes. Snap the plate and Macropass drafts the foods, portions and six values it sees, listing its portion assumptions. Photo is one of three inputs, not the whole app.

Is there a food database or barcode scanner?

No, by design. The description is the input, and the AI's visible math is the safeguard. If you want a database and a scanner, MyFitnessPal has both.

Can I repeat a meal I logged before?

Yes. Macropass remembers meals you log, so a usual breakfast is one tap away. Repeating a saved meal does not use an AI estimate.

How many AI estimates do I get?

Up to 12 AI estimates per day and 120 per month (50 during the trial). Saved-meal reuse and manual logging always remain available.

Does Macropass log meals automatically without confirming?

Only if you choose Auto mode. By default nothing counts until you confirm. If you prefer, meals log instantly and can be edited or deleted afterwards.

Accuracy

What the Macropass draft shows and what Macropass never claims.

How accurate is the Macropass AI?

Every estimate is a draft. Macropass keeps the words you used, lists every ingredient with its calories, states the assumptions the AI made, shows an uncertainty band on the calories, and lets you correct anything in one sentence. Nothing counts until you confirm.

What assumptions does the AI show?

Portion and preparation assumptions in plain sentences, such as "Assumed nonfat, not 2%" or "Almond butter counted as 1.5 tbsp", listed under "How Macropass estimated" on every draft.

Can I correct an estimate?

Yes, in one sentence: "make it a double", "no granola", "the chicken was 250 g". Every ingredient and total updates before you confirm. You can also edit any row directly.

Is the uncertainty band on every macro?

No. The band is on calories only, such as 300 kcal ±15. Protein, carbs, fat, fiber and sugar are single editable estimates.

Is Macropass a medical device?

No. Macropass is a general wellness tool, not a medical device. Nutrition estimates may be incomplete or inaccurate and do not provide medical advice.

Claude and ChatGPT

The assistant path over MCP.

Does Macropass work with ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes. Connect Claude, ChatGPT, or any custom MCP client. Describe what you ate in the chat and your assistant logs calories, protein, carbs, fat, fiber, sugar and the full ingredient breakdown into your Macropass diary. It can also read today's totals, search and edit your meal history, and log weigh-ins.

How do I connect Claude or ChatGPT to Macropass?

In Macropass, open You, Assistants, Connect, pick Claude or ChatGPT, copy the MCP endpoint, add it as a custom connector in the assistant's web settings, and sign in with Macropass to authorize. Step by step: macropass.app/claude-chatgpt/setup.

What can a connected assistant not do?

A connected assistant estimates with its own model. It never uses Macropass photo, voice or AI estimation, and it cannot change goals, save recipes, or export your data. Photo and voice logging stay inside the Macropass app.

Is the MCP connection secure?

Assistants connect over MCP with OAuth 2.1 and PKCE at auth.macropass.app. You approve the connection once and can revoke it in Macropass at any time.

Do I need Macropass Pro to use the assistant connection?

Yes. The subscription unlocks the whole app. In-app AI estimation and logging from a connected assistant are both included; connected assistants use their own model and cost nothing extra.

Can I use a custom MCP client?

Yes. Any MCP client that supports OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration can connect to the Macropass endpoint. The tool list is documented at macropass.app/claude-chatgpt/tools.

Does a connected assistant see my goals?

A connected assistant can read today's meals and totals and your meal history, and log meals and weigh-ins. It does not receive your goals or remaining-target context and cannot change goals.
